Contextual AI Presence Mapping (CAPM)
The practice of measuring and shaping how AI models recommend brands across the moments that drive customer decisions. The category beneath SEO, GEO, and AEO.
Moment
A life event or business transition a customer reveals to AI before any product query, “we just got engaged,” “new VP of Sales,” “my mom keeps falling.” The trigger AI uses to infer downstream needs.
Moment Library
A vertical-specific taxonomy of canonical moments, their phrasing variations, urgency windows, and downstream categories.
Inferred-Need Graph
For a given moment, the set of purchase categories AI is most likely to introduce next, with confidence scores, sequence, and urgency.
Recommendation Pathway
The five-stage funnel AI runs from moment recognition through decision support: recognition → need expansion → category narrowing → brand consideration → recommendation.
Source Authority
The specific domains, review platforms, communities, and analysts an AI model cites when it makes a recommendation in a given category.
Share of Recommendation
The percentage of relevant moment-pathway combinations in which a brand is named by AI. The metric that replaces share of voice in the AI layer.
First-Brand Appearance Rate
How often a brand is the first one AI names in a given pathway. The strongest predictor of downstream conversion.
Readiness Score
A composite, moment-specific score across nine dimensions of how well-positioned a brand is to be recommended for a given life moment.
Brand-of-Record
The brand AI defaults to in a given moment-category pair. A slot that's up for grabs once per category, then defended.

How is CAPM different from SEO?

SEO optimizes for keyword queries on a search engine. CAPM operates one layer earlier, on the conversational context a customer reveals to AI before any query is ever typed. The work is mapping moments and inferred needs, not ranking on a SERP.

How is CAPM different from GEO or AEO?

GEO and AEO optimize for direct product queries inside an AI engine (“best CRM for SaaS”). CAPM operates upstream of those queries, on the life moment AI uses to infer the product category in the first place (“we just got a new VP of Sales”).

Do I need to rip out my existing AI visibility tool?

No. Aethon is built to stand alone if you don't have one and to sit above the stack if you do. We don't pick a feature fight with your current GEO or SEO suite.

Which AI models do you cover?

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity at launch. Live monitoring across all four, with regular refreshes of the moment libraries and source-authority maps.

How long until we see results?

Median time from onboarding to first measurable lift in share of recommendation is about two weeks. The biggest gains come from closing source-authority gaps and shipping the moment-specific content the Action Engine queues.

What's the smallest team Aethon works with?

The Starter plan is sized for founder-led or two-person marketing teams. The Pro plan is the sweet spot for growth teams of 5, 25. Larger orgs are on the Business or Enterprise tiers.

How does Aethon handle data and privacy?

Aethon is a market-intelligence platform , we model AI behavior in aggregate, we do not read individual users' conversations. The data we work with is the recommendation behavior of the model, not the prompts of the people talking to it. We treat customer data with the same care we'd want for our own.
